On this self-publishing journey, I've observed a stark contradiction. Some people who I thought wouldn't support me did, and others who I thought would support me haven't.
Success is defined as, "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose." It's hard to appreciate our reward if we lose focus of our purpose. Don't get me wrong now because things like money, acknowledgment, and options are reasons to be excited. But think about the moments of grit such as little to no support, missed meals, skipped vacations, and other types of sacrifices that led to your finished product(s) - your success!
I've had experiences with feeling lonely because there aren't too many people I can discuss this road with - the less traveled one. The less traveled one is the pursuit of dreams fearlessly and in opposition to the status quo.
While working on yourself, please don't ignore your mental health. Take time to pray, recharge your batteries, and practice gratefulness.
